Ducks or Beavers???

Since the winner of Thursday’s Civil War football game will go to the Rose Bowl, fans of both the Ducks and Beavers who want to be there have been considering their options. And local travel agents have been busy putting together packages.

If the Oregon Ducks lose the game, they will go instead to the Holiday Bowl in San Diego.

If the Oregon State Beavers lose, their bowl possibilities are still uncertain.

Either way, travel agents urge fans not to wait until Thursday or Friday to pick up the phone; people are already booking reservations.

Some families are split between the two schools and are planning to head for Pasadena and the Rose Bowl regardless of who wins. Others are holding off out of fear of jinxing their team.

Lauri Quinby of Premier Travel says a third group has a win-win plan in place.

“Some people are actually booking so that they can go to either game,” says Quinby. “So they're going early enough to go to the Holiday Bowl, and coming back late enough to make it to the Rose Bowl, so they can do either/or.”  Quinby says that because of the holidays, commercial flights are selling out and air fare is going for about $600 for flights out of Portland.  She says charter flights will sell out quickly, even though the prices have not yet been announced.  Her best advice: Call and get on a list now.
